LOCAL MUNICIPALITY COMMUNITY
DECLARATION TO METSIMAHOLO
Ever since my appointment as the Executive Mayor of Metsimaholo Local Municipality community, I have known that my task will be
impossible without the presence of our Lord. I know that neither knowledge nor wisdom, nor any man-made effort will be good enough to serve this
community – no, the community will only be blessed by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We have a clear vision for the community of Metsimaholo Local Municipality, a vision that will benefit all as we work together to establish:
· Prosperity for all citizens,
· Harmony as we live together,
· Freedom from all kinds of slavery,
· Leadership to serve the community, and
· Authority that make good happen.
The history of our beloved South Africa has proven that great things can only happen when we stand in UNITY. President Jacob Zuma has also asked
the nation to be united in his words: “Together we can do more.” Metsimaholo Local Municipality will become the example of a great community,
but only when we unite and work together as ONE.
I agree that I must walk in front, and with due respect I commit myself to build a local government (municipality) that will be known for:
· elimination of corruption,
· competent managers in right positions who perform their duties, together with diligent municipal workers,
· strict discipline on all contracts and contractors to serve the needs of the community, and
· hard-working elected councillors who fulfill promises made to the community.
It is true that an Executive Mayor cannot do everything by himself. The community must be one and therefore we have chosen to address the
problems of our community in an approach where the following three legs will take hands and work closely together:
· Church
· Politics
· Business
Alot has already been achieved for these three legs to come together in UNITY.
As an example of the progress that we have made in this community, I have a vision for our community to join hands and eat together as we celebrate
Heritage Day on 24 September 2011. Let us all work together and eat together as we bring whatever we have and share with one another this year on
Heritage Day. I invite the Churches of Metsimaholo Local Municipality, all in Politics, and all in Business to come together on this day and unite for
the benefit of all in Metsimaholo Local Municipality. Please prepare yourselves to come and share on this historical occasion that will be the start of a
momentous movement of prosperity into the future of Metsimaholo Local Municipality.
Let us become the example of HOPE for the generations to come.
Cllr Brutus Tshepo Mahlaku
