It was on 9 June 2001 when one of the founding members of OTBC received the audible instruction from God: The job you are doing, is too easy. Go and create jobs! This instruction was repeated over and over again from 09:30 in the morning up to 14:00 in the afternoon. There was no doubt, it was the instruction from God.

The whole of 2002 was spent in prayer to hear from God on how the jobs had to be created as the instruction was too big to comprehend for the human mind. Finally the vision came through and can be expressed in the words: A network of own and independent businesses.

Although it took some time to build up the courage for the implementation of the Godly instruction, finally OTBC was established in 2004. A number of people prayed together and worked together and God revealed the purpose for existence for OTBC:

To reveal the heart of God through gospel centered business.

The vision was also revealed:

To be apostolic people who radiate Life into mushrooming businesses.

Olive Tree Business in Christ is now continuously endeavoring to fulfill the purpose and to reach the vision.

It was during a discussion with God at the end of 2006 that it was revealed that the network must stretch into Southern Africa and not only South Africa. This business network must serve as the vehicle to establish an infrastructure into Southern Africa through which the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be lived, will be experienced, and will be testified.
